2015-12-15: Hi! You're probably here because you did a Google search for 'plus sized horseback riders' or you saw my content quoted elsewhere. There are a couple of things I'd like you to know.

I am still here! But I am living away from my horses and not riding often. I could tell you a lie and say that I am, but I have always endeavored to give you the truth here. As a result, I'm not feeling terribly motivated to write blog posts and I feel out of touch with the community.

I'd love for you to stay a while and look back through the archives. Visit the links listed below. We still have an active forum community and I post on the Facebook page from time to time.

I have tentative plans to try to get more involved in the horse world in 2016, and I will absolutely share whatever that adventure becomes with you, so keep checking back!

Vlog #4: A Lot of Ranting About Loving Yourself & The Biggest Loser

I promise there will be an entry coming up very shortly - if not about a myth I'm planning to bust (Riding Is Not Exercise), then definitely a long and vehement complaint about the "S" word... SNOW.

  1. Noo I wrote a big comment and it disappeared. Anyway just wanted to tell you I love you and am proud of you! I started calorie counting this morning again, my program says I can be at my goal weight (140lb) by the end of October, but only if I lose 2 pounds a week. Ugh wish me luck! Keep blogging because you're my new inspiration, which should help inspire you to keep blogging! Woot!

  2. Hey! A fellow fat equestrian. I am losing weight because it doesn't allow me to be as an effective rider too. Plus I took a spill off my big girl and broke my wrist. I have a blog about my journey too.

I have to say that I love the Biggest Loser. I think if you give it a chance you will see why. Most of the people are really caring and they try to eliminate people that are a able to succeed on their own. Jillian and Bob sound like your boss. They are hard, Jillian more so than Bob, but they really seem to care about the contestants. They are hard on them though. There is a Biggest Loser resort in Utah. I would LOVE to be able to go out there for a week or two and get a boost in my weight loss.

  3. Aw, thanks Tiff! :) You know I love you, too!

And Beth - I think I WILL like The Biggest Loser, and I am sure I will be an addict soon enough (fortunately, I am not addicted to drinking or smoking or really anything, except reality tv!). I was just surprised that it was an elimination show. I wonder if they have any kind of support/referrals when they get back home?

  4. You are such an amazing and strong person Amanda! You Rock! I swear I know exactly how you feel about settling for the guys you date. I have been seeing a guy for about 6 months now and feel like I have no chemistry with him, but i tell myself he is a great guy and he likes me and as a fat girl too there is nobody else out there who finds me attractive. Well I am going to take from your confidence and self esteem and get myself in shape get back on a horse and start achieving my goals!
